Intake FAQs
As word is getting out, I am getting more requests to surrender cats and kittens. I want to make it clear that our mission is to improve the plight of homeless and neglected animals. If you call to surrender a litter of kittens, we will be inquiring where the mother is and what is the plan to get her fixed.
If you find a stray animal, whose owner is unknown, the proper procedure is to call your municipal shelter or local Animal Control and report the cat as found. They legally have the ability to do a stray hold, which is to allow time for an owner to look for their pet. If they cannot physically take the animal, they may ask for a photo and description while you hold on to it for their stray hold. Please also post the animal on a local lost and found page, and print photos in the area where the animal was found. Once a shelter has released an animal from stray hold, if they do not want it in their care, you may call us and inquire if we have space to take in the animal. Even better, offer to foster until a forever home can be found.
We do often get inquiries from families who have had cats dumped on their property. If you know the cat belongs on your property, and you have been feeding it, and technically you are the cat’s current owner, but are unable to care for the cat, or do not have the resources to get them fixed, we will do what we can to help. Thank you for caring enough about the animals to find them help. Microchipping your pets can prevent many of these issues.
